In the form of an emergency, the Plenary Session of the Parliament approved the Budget of the Council of Medically Assisted Reproduction for 2026.
The Speaker of the Parliament, Annita Dimitriou, criticized the event, saying that "the Parliament is almost closing for the summer holidays and we are still voting on budgets".
The president of the Health Committee, Savia Orfanidou, expressed strong irritation because a semi-governmental organization went so far as to submit a budget in July this year. "Some explanations were given but it is unacceptable," he said.
At the same time, however, he stressed the important work done by the Council for many young couples, in terms of IVF and egg cryopreservation, as well as other procedures related to the enhancement of infertility in our country.
In turn, Dimitris Dimitriou stressed that this "budget broke all records. I don't remember another one being submitted in July."
"The fact that they forgot this Organization shows the organization and the way this Government operates," he continued.
The bill was approved unanimously.
