With the normalization of the situation on the fronts of Iran and Lebanon, the flow of tourism from Europe and the Middle East to Paphos has increased significantly in the last month or so. However, the losses that have already occurred during the conflict make it more necessary than any other year to include domestic tourism in the equation.
This is what officials of the province's tourism industry emphasize in their statements to "F", pointing out that this is the only way to balance the negative situation caused by international developments. They also described as positive the fact that Paphos has been a popular summer destination in recent years for a large portion of our compatriots.
In addition to covering part of the losses from international markets, they pointed out, the emergence of Paphos in recent years as an important destination for local holidaymakers, has resulted in a surge in business turnover, but mainly in the expectations of implementing the plans to make Paphos a year-round destination.
And this, the people of the tourism industry mention, can only be done with the massive contribution of domestic tourism. Something that was proven during this period with the unexpected decrease in the tourist flow from abroad, as a result of the travel advisory issued for Cyprus after the war conflicts in Iran and Lebanon.
