The building planning of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth for the 2026-2027 school year is on track, with a total of 23 large-scale projects continuing or planned to start, with a total cost of more than €125 million.
According to the Technical Services of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, the interventions are part of the planning to ensure the orderly, safe and modern operation of public schools at all levels of education.
Among the most important projects in progress or planned are the construction of the New Technical School of Limassol and the Annex of the Limassol Pedagogical Institute, with a total cost of €33.7 million, as well as the construction of the New Technical School of Green Professions of Agios Lazaros in Aradippou, Larnaca, with a budget of €36.5 million.
Significant investments also concern seismic upgrading projects, extensions, general improvements and replacements of school units. These include the expansion, seismic upgrade and general improvement of the Second Technical School of Limassol (€6.5 million), the replacement of the Primary School of Deftera (€7.3 million), as well as a series of projects in primary schools, secondary schools and kindergartens in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos.
The Technical Services of the Ministry of Education also refer to the upgrading of the safety of existing school buildings, with earthquake protection projects, such as the Evriviadeio High School in Larnaca, the Drosia High School in Larnaca and the Istanbul High School in Nicosia.
At the same time, the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the School Boards, continues the implementation of smaller maintenance and improvement projects, with the aim of continuously upgrading school facilities and creating safe and functional learning environments.
The total cost of the 23 large-scale projects amounts to €125,080,141.36
