The image of the electricity system on Friday is good, with demand estimated to be fully covered and at the same time the necessary reserves are ensured, the Assistant Director of the National Energy Control Center (EKEE) of the TSOC, Haris Zavallis, told KYPE.

According to Mr. Zavallis, the available conventional production amounted to 1,188 MW on Friday morning, while within the day it is expected to increase to 1,248 MW, with the reintegration of a 60 MW power unit in Dhekelia.
As he mentioned, on Thursday night, a unit in Dhekelia, which had been reintegrated earlier in the day, was put out of service, as it presented a problem that is being investigated by the EAC.

The midday peak of demand, between 14:00 and 16:00, is estimated at 1,320 MW, while the evening peak, from 19:00 to 21:30, is forecast to be around 1,065 MW.

"Regardless of the availability of the Dhekelia unit, today's demand is estimated to be met, with the existence of reserves in the system," concluded Mr. Zavallis.
