ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTER IN TALA - Pafos Live 15/7
Residents of Tala, the initiative group of Tala residents, denounce interventions by a private individual in the "argaki of Kalaitzis" that destroy, as they claim, a unique monument of nature.
The works according to the local authorities are being carried out without obtaining the necessary permits.
According to complaints from residents and the community council of Tala, earthworks are being carried out in the area that alter the morphology of the ground, while an intervention has also been made in the bed of the adjacent argaki. They also complain that the owner proceeded with illegal construction without having secured the required permits.
As they claim, due to the inaction of the competent authorities, the owner with the use of a bulldozer has done irreparable damage to the environment of the area and is preparing to proceed with a larger intervention, since in essence no competent authority prevents him.
The "argaki of Kalaitzis" as it is called is essentially a unique valley of great environmental value with rich vegetation, with oaks, pernives, cypresses and shrubs.
