EMBA-TALA ROAD [APOSTOLOU PAVLOU AVE] - CARE NEEDED

EMBA-TALA ROAD [APOSTOLOU PAVLOU AVE] - CARE NEEDED - Pafos Press 24/7

Drivers passing by are reporting serious safety problems on Apostolou Pavlou Avenue, between the communities of Emba and Tala, where there has been a major subsidence of the road surface.

According to the complaints, the damage has created a ditch approximately two meters long, which poses serious risks to drivers and other road users.

Information indicates that the Paphos Traffic Police are already aware of the problem, which is putting pressure on the Emba Community Council to immediately remedy the dangerous situation. However, so far there does not appear to have been any substantial mobilization by the competent local authority.

The same information indicates that, due to the seriousness of the situation and the delay in dealing with it, the Paphos Traffic Police also informed the Chief of Police, seeking to expedite the necessary actions.

Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution when passing through the specific point until the damage is repaired. It is noted that the road network of Apostolou Avenue between Emba and Tala facilitates the passage of passing drivers to the community of Kissonerga. The mayor of Emba, Marios Metaxas, requested the immediate mobilization of the competent services after the problem that occurred on a section of the community's road network.

In his statements to CNA, Mr. Metaxas stated that he had given instructions for the competent services to immediately address the issue. As he explained, the problem arose due to the displacement of the road and is not a simple subsidence, which makes it necessary to take permanent restoration measures.

According to him, two options are being considered to address the situation: either the announcement of tenders for the execution of the required works or the restoration by teams from the Emba Community Authority.

The community leader emphasized that the road needs to be widened, as well as the installation of a safety railing on one side, in order to ensure the safety of passing drivers.

As he noted, a rainwater drainage ditch passes next to this specific point, which requires the installation of a protective railing. At the same time, he stated that the road should be widened to the right side, in the direction of Tala, in order to definitively address the problem and enhance road safety.
