Any actions for the utilization of the old building facilities of Paphos Airport are essentially postponed. This is inferred from the answer of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis, to a relevant question submitted by the Paphos MP of AKEL Valentinos Fakontis, in which he asked for information on whether there are studies, in consultation with the contractor, for ways to make better use of the old facilities of Paphos International Airport, in order to strengthen the tourism product of our country.
In the answer of the competent Minister, it is noted, among other things, that for the old departures building of Paphos airport, for the time being, there is no planning by the contractor company. This is expected to be considered in the context of the preparation of the new terms of the Concession Agreement in 2032.
As far as the old arrivals building of Paphos Airport is concerned, according to the plans of the State, there is a decision to create an Aircraft Service Terminal for Distinguished Persons and General Aviation of Paphos Airport. However, despite the actions taken by the contractor company to find an investor for the exploitation and use of the above facilities, to date, no agreement has been reached.
Mr. Fakontis pointed out that such important facilities cannot remain unused. It is certain that their better utilization will strengthen the tourism product of Paphos and Cyprus in general, stressed the AKEL MP, announcing that he will bring the issue back, with the aim of finding ways so that the old facilities at Paphos airport can be used as soon as possible.
