The Member of Parliament of AKEL Paphos, Valentinos Fakontis, sent a letter to the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis, asking for information on whether ways are being studied, in consultation with the contractor, for better utilization of the old facilities of Paphos International Airport, in order to strengthen the tourism product of our country.
In the answer of the competent Minister, it is noted, among other things, that for the old departures building of Paphos airport, for the time being, there is no planning by the contractor company. This is expected to be considered in the context of the preparation of the new terms of the Concession Agreement in 2032.
As far as the old arrivals building of Paphos Airport is concerned, according to the plans of the State, there is a decision to create an Aircraft Service Terminal for Distinguished Persons/General Aviation of Paphos Airport. However, despite the actions taken by the contractor company to find an investor for the exploitation/use of the above facilities, to date, no agreement has been reached.
Referring to the answers, Mr. Fakontis pointed out that such important facilities cannot remain unused. It is certain that their better utilization will strengthen the tourism product of Paphos and Cyprus in general, stressed the AKEL MP, announcing that he will bring the issue back, with the aim of finding ways so that the old facilities at Paphos airport can be used as soon as possible.
