The Police announce that, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 12m., an anti-terrorist exercise called "PORT SHIELD 2026" will be held in the area of the Port of Limassol.
The Exercise will be attended by Departments and Services of the Cyprus Police, the Ambulance Service, the Fire Service, the Deputy Ministry of Shipping, the Cyprus Ports Authority, Eurogate Container Terminal Limassol, which is also responsible for the organization of the Exercise and will be responsible for its implementation in its own Terminal, as well as the other Port facilities of D.P World and the Cyprus Ports Authority (Retained Area).
The purpose of the exercise is to assess the effectiveness of the security measures in place, to verify the operational coordination procedures and to strengthen cooperation between all public and private bodies involved, in the context of dealing with a terrorist incident affecting the security of a ship and Port facilities.
In addition, the exercise aims to further familiarize the staff with the crisis management procedures and operational data of the Eurogate Container Terminal Limassol, as the organizing Port Facility, as well as the other government agencies and the Port facilities D.P World and the Cyprus Ports Authority (Retained Area).
During the exercise, virtual (blank) fire will be used within the designated areas of the exercise and there will be mobilization by both the police and other state services on the Nicosia-Limassol highway, as well as in the wider area of the Port.
These activities are part of the exercise and there is no cause for concern. The public that will be in the area of the Limassol Port during the exercise is invited to cooperate with the Police and follow the instructions and suggestions of the authorities.
