YELLOW WEATHER WARNING TODAY FOR RAIN AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS, MAINLY IN THE MOUNTAINS AND SOUTHEAST OF THE ISLAND AND INTERIOR - Filenews 14/6
The unstable weather conditions on our island continue, since today rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected in places in the mountains, in areas in the southeast of the island and in the interior, with the Meteorological Service issuing a yellow warning.
The warning is in effect from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and concerns isolated strong storms in the mountains, areas in the southeast and inland. Hail is expected to fall in a storm, while the intensity of the rain is locally possible to exceed 35 millimeters per hour.The weather forecast in detail
According to the weather forecast, weak low pressure and unstable air mass affect the area.
Initially today, there will be locally increased low clouds, especially in the west, but also in places thin fog that will soon dissipate. Gradually the weather in most areas will become mostly clear with temporarily increased clouds, but during the afternoon and after, clouds that will develop are expected to give local rains and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains, in areas in the southeast and also in areas inland. Hail is expected to fall in a storm. Winds will be mainly southwest to northwest, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and in the afternoon on the coast moderate to strong and locally strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will generally be a little rough. The temperature will rise to around 33 degrees inland, 27 on the west coast, around 30 on the rest of the coast and 24 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight, the weather will become mostly clear, however gradually there will be temporarily increased low clouds, especially on the coasts. Later and during the morning hours, thin fog or fog is expected to form locally, mainly in areas in the interior and east. Winds will initially continue to blow mainly southwest to northwest, light and temporarily to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, however later they will become downhill and locally variable, weak, 3 Beaufort. The sea in the south and east will become calm to a little rough, however in the west and north it will remain a little rough. The temperature will drop to around 20 degrees inland and on the coasts and around 14 degrees in the higher mountains.
On Monday, initially the weather will be mostly clear with temporarily increased low clouds on the coasts. During the afternoon and after, clouds that will develop are expected to give rains and isolated thunderstorms in places, mainly in the mountains and inland. Hail is likely to fall in a storm.
On Tuesday, the weather in most areas will be mostly clear, while in the mountains, clouds that will develop after noon may give isolated rains. On Wednesday the weather will be mostly clear, although locally increased clouds will be observed at times.
The temperature on Monday is not expected to change appreciably, remaining close to seasonal values, however until Wednesday it will gradually rise, to fluctuate above the average climatic values of the season.
