UNCOLLECTED WARRANTS ARE NO LONGER UNCOLLECTED IN PAPHOS

UNCOLLECTED WARRANTS ARE NO LONGER UNCOLLECTED IN PAPHOS - Filenews 26/6

A sum of tens of thousands of euros was collected by the Police in the first months of 2026, as part of an operation to execute warrants, which were pending in the province of Paphos.

Information from "F" states that almost 50 thousand were collected in four separate companies of the competent department of the Paphos Directorate and which concerned more than 200 uncollected warrants for fines issued in relation to various traffic and financial violations.

These campaigns are now carried out at regular intervals in the Paphos district and will continue as they prove to be particularly effective. In two previous cases, the amounts collected from warrants pending for years were in the order of almost €100,000, in Paphos and the Chrysochous apartment.

This practice, in addition to the obvious financial benefits it has for the state coffers, is considered by the competent state officials to be particularly important for its semantics: That is, that it now sends the message that no one can feel that the uncollected warrants will remain uncollected forever, as has been the case for so many years, but that they will be forced to pay them to avoid interest and shaming.
