CUT will operate the first Sports Academy based in Paphos. This was revealed by the Rector, Panagiotis Zafiris, in his statements to "F", referring to studies that are already being prepared by the institution for this purpose.
Most likely, this Academy will have two study programs, he said, the first of which will concern sports management issues and the second purely sports issues.
In Paphos, the University of Technology will also give a degree in food studies from the coming years, Mr. Zafiris also announced, something he said was already announced during the graduation ceremony held in Paphos last Monday.
The Rector of the academic institution expressed his particular joy for the historic event of the graduation of the first batch of students of CUT in Paphos, speaking of a long road, with difficulties, but also many successes as he stressed.
We now have the pleasure of having the first 105 graduates from our school in Paphos, a fact that gives us feelings of pride and I am sure that it gives the same feelings to the city and the people of Paphos.
Referring to the expansion of the CUT in Larnaca, the Rector of the institution said that the process is progressing and the tenders for the contractor have already been opened. Around September, he said, work will begin on the construction of the facilities next to Mackenzie and we hope to welcome the first students at the end of 2027 or in 2028 for the School of Marine Sciences, Technology and Sustainable Development.
Regarding the headquarters of the university, Limassol, Panagiotis Zafiris said that enormous importance is attached to the issue of building infrastructure. As you know, about 30 buildings are rented by the university for its needs, he said, while at the same time there is intense preparation for the works in the settlement of Berengaria.
We will be the first university, he stressed, that will have the opportunity to offer those students who apply for it a dormitory at a low cost in Limassol, something we have managed to do since our first year of operation in Paphos.
This, Mr. Zafiris concluded, will also stop the whispering about CUT as an expensive university.
