The Municipality of Strovolos recorded valuable data through the campaign of responsible dog ownership as from a sample check they recorded that 83 were licensed, 144 were unlicensed and 55 had an expired possession license, with the competent bodies continuing to systematically inform the citizens.
Officials of the municipality told Filenews that the main goal of the campaign was to promote the responsible ownership and management of dogs, in order to ensure public health and safety.
In fact, the aim was to inform the citizens about the obligations arising from the legislation, such as the marking of dogs with a microchip, their registration in the municipal register, but also the obligation to collect and remove faeces from public places.
It is emphasized that the campaign has no punitive character, while the goal of the municipality is to inform and cultivate a culture of responsibility and respect for society as a whole. "The campaign is part of a wider effort by the municipality to improve the quality of life in the city and promote public health," said competent officials of the municipality.
144 dogs were unlicensed
Regarding the number of unregistered dogs, according to data from the municipality, until the start of the campaign, there was no exact picture of the number of dogs that are not registered in the register. Precisely for this reason, during the campaign the municipality recorded valuable data. are revealing
The results from a sample test of dogs as part of the campaign are revealing:

"These data confirm the need for systematic and continuous information of dog owners. Therefore, the municipality will intensify the information of the dog owners and will also proceed with re-inspections, so as to ensure that we are all aware of our obligations and try to be consistent," municipal officials told Filenews.
Complaints about faeces, barking and walking loose
The Municipality of Strovolos receives complaints about dirt from dog faeces in public places from time to time, a problem that is found in various areas of the territory of the municipality.
In fact, incidents are also recorded where dogs walk around without a leash or cause nuisance, such as intense barking or stench.
