The Cultural Environmental Association of Chloraka expresses strong concern and indignation about the situation in areas of "Melanos", denouncing the continued dumping of garbage and bulky objects in one of the most important natural areas of the community.
According to an announcement by the PPOX, citizens and especially foreign residents and visitors often complain about images of abandonment, dirt and accumulation of waste in various parts of Chloraka. At the same time, the PPOH points out that it actively participates in cleaning campaigns, making continuous efforts to maintain a clean and quality environment.
Special reference is made to Charilaou Floraki Street, under the area of "Melanos" and next to the stream, where images have been recorded that, as reported, cause shame and indignation. Mattresses, old furniture, bulky objects and various other waste have turned the natural landscape into an uncontrolled dump.
The Cultural Environmental Association of Chloraka characterizes the behavior of those who choose to dispose of garbage in public and natural spaces as unthinkable, stressing that such actions are an insult to the environment and the local community. As it is underlined, a small minority of unscrupulous people cannot tarnish the image of the community and expose the place to residents and visitors.
Through its announcement, the Group calls on the Local Authority to immediately proceed with the cleaning of the affected areas, as well as the strict implementation of the legislation to deal with the phenomenon. It also calls for the identification and exemplary punishment of offenders, arguing that fines and sanctions must be particularly severe in order to send a clear message of zero tolerance.
In conclusion, the Cultural – Environmental Club of Chloraka emphasizes that the protection of the environment and the maintenance of cleanliness are everyone's responsibility, noting that Chloraka deserves better treatment and should not be associated with images of abandonment and impunity. At the same time, it appeals for immediate action and effective implementation of the law, in order to effectively address the problem.
