FIRE ZONE CREATED IN PAPHOS - Filenews 30/6 by Dora Christodoulou
The Municipality of Paphos is proceeding with the creation of a fire zone over a large area, along the river from the roundabout of Konia at the beginning of the Paphos-Limassol highway to the roundabout of the Paphiakos Stadium, as a measure of prevention and protection of the city during this period of fire risks.
Speaking to "F", the Mayor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforou, explained that this is the natural corridor where the new Paphos Linear Park will be created, a project that will be a point of reference for the city. The fire zone is the first and necessary step, strengthening the safety of the area and protecting the natural environment, he said.
With the creation of the park and the extensive tree planting, the heart of the city will acquire a new lung of green and oxygen, the Mayor emphasized. A living space that will upgrade the quality of life, contribute to the improvement of the microclimate and offer citizens a real oasis of coolness and natural beauty.
The Linear Park will be a unique place for walking, sports, cycling, relaxation and contact with nature, offering daily moments of well-being to young and old, he also states, stressing that the Municipality of Paphos, in close cooperation with the Municipality of Ierokipia, is proceeding with coordination and determination in the implementation of a project with significant environmental, social and developmental value.
With a plan, cooperation and responsibility, we are creating a safer, greener and more humane future for Paphos, leaving a valuable legacy for future generations, he concluded.
