Cyprus recorded more than double its normal May rainfall last month, with average precipitation in government-controlled areas reaching 238% of the monthly norm at 46.7 millimetres, the Department of Meteorology said.

Every measuring station across the island surpassed its monthly norm, with several recording close to four times their normal May rainfall.

Paphos Airport recorded the sharpest proportional rise, at 394% of its normal May rainfall, followed by Polis at 375%, Stavros tis Psokas at 371%, and Limassol New Port at 360%.

In absolute terms, the highest May rainfall was recorded at Prodromos with 127.2mm, followed by Saïtta with 108mm and Stavros tis Psokas with 100.8mm.
