For the second consecutive year, the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) confirms its position among the world's top universities, securing its presence in the QS World University Rankings and occupying the position category 701-710 worldwide.
In a statement, CUT states that it is among the top 8% of the 8,808 universities evaluated in total, as well as the top 53% of the Universities included in the final ranking.
It is noteworthy, it is added, that only 1,504 universities, i.e. about 17% of the total universities evaluated, managed to be included in this list.
The QS World University Rankings list is considered one of the top three international university rankings, along with the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai Ranking).
At the same time, it is noted that CUT, as a small University with less than 5,000 students, in order to be included in the list, had to meet not only the general eligibility criteria that apply to all Universities, but also the special criteria applied to small institutions, "which highlights even more the importance of its distinction and achievement".
The evaluation of Universities is based on nine key indicators, which include: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per Faculty, Faculty/Student Ratio, Employment Outcomes, Sustainability, International Students, international orientation at the level of academic staff (International Faculty) and participation in international research networks (International Research Network).
The announcement indicates that the results of this year's ranking highlight internationalization, research activity, sustainability and quality of the learning environment as key comparative advantages of CUT.
"Particularly important is the fact that the CUT significantly exceeds the global median in key indicators related to internationalization, the quality of the learning environment and research impact", it is added, while indicatively it is mentioned that the normalized reports per member of academic staff amount to 113.2, compared to 59.9 of the global average, "which demonstrates the high quality, international recognition and the influence of the research produced at the CUT".
At the same time, the announcement continues, the University's performance in the quality indicators of the learning environment and internationalization, with a ratio of international members of academic staff and international students, is significantly higher than the global median and enhances its international character and extroversion, "confirming, at the same time, its commitment to providing quality education and a more personalized learning experience for its students".
Finally, it is stated that this important recognition confirms the stable international presence and competitiveness of CUT and further strengthens its position on the global academic map, highlighting it as a University with a strong orientation towards excellence in education and research, as well as internationalization and sustainable development.
