The presence and action of the Police last night was intense, throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols in key points of urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order and increasing the sense of security of the public.
As a result of the preventive policing operations, 5 persons were arrested, for various offenses including impersonation, illegal possession of property, malicious damage and threat and illegal stay.
During the night, 426 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 563 drivers and passengers were checked. At the same time, 40 inspections of premises were carried out, from which 4 complaints emerged.
During traffic checks carried out, 295 complaints were made about various traffic violations, of which 79 concern speeding. A total of 67 alcohol tests were performed, with 5 positive results, as well as 4 preliminary drug tests with 2 positive results. Also, as part of the police examinations, 13 vehicles were detained.
Policing operations, for the prevention and suppression of crime, continue every day, with an enhanced police presence, targeted controls and immediate operational action, in order to protect citizens and ensure public order.

A 51-year-old man, who was wanted in connection with an investigated case of import, possession, and possession of drugs for the purpose of supplying, and participating in a criminal organization, was located and arrested by members of the Police. YKAN (Nicosia District Unit) is investigating the case.
The details and photo of the 51-year-old were released by the Police, on 25/07/2023 and 27/07/2023, for the purpose of locating him, as part of the police investigations.

A theft from a car was reported by a citizen in the early hours of Tuesday (16/06), in the province of Famagusta.
According to the Police, a 32-year-old man complained that between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., various items worth €2,900 were stolen from his car.
The vehicle was parked in an outdoor parking lot of a hotel in Ayia Napa.
The Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the theft and to identify the perpetrators.

A motorcycle arson in Akaki occurred shortly after midnight on Monday.
According to the Police, around 12:15 a.m., a fire broke out on a motorcycle that was parked inside the stadium.
The Fire Service rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire, as well as the Police for examinations.
The motorcycle was completely burned by the fire.
From the first examinations carried out at the scene, it seems that the fire was set maliciously.
The scene remained under guard and this morning examinations will be carried out by the Police and Fire Brigade to determine the causes of the fire.
Motorcycle ownership details are being investigated.

The Police arrested a 31-year-old man on Monday afternoon, in Limassol.
Specifically, around 17:20, members of the Police stopped a vehicle in which a 31-year-old man was riding for a check.
A search of the vehicle found stolen property and drugs.
As it was established, part of the stolen goods came from a burglary of a house in Pissouri that had been reported on May 28, and from which property worth approximately €1.550 was stolen.
The 31-year-old was arrested and taken into custody.

The Famagusta District Court today sentenced a 25-year-old woman to 6 months in prison, after finding her guilty of charges of possession of a controlled drug, specifically nitrous oxide, as well as illegal stay on the territory of the Republic.
The 25-year-old was arrested on June 9, 2026 when a metal bottle, 64 unused nitric oxide capsules, 68 balloons as well as the sum of 100 euros were found in her possession.
The examinations also revealed that she resided illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
