The archaeological mission of the University of Leiden in the Netherlands has arrived in Chloraka to continue the excavations in the important prehistoric settlement of "Palloures", which dates back to the Chalcolithic period (about 3,000 BC).
According to a relevant announcement by the Environmental Cultural Association of Chloraka, the excavations have been carried out for several years under the direction of Dr. Bleda Düring of Leiden University and have contributed significantly to the promotion of the history and culture of the region.
The archaeological mission is implemented in collaboration with the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus and the University of Cyprus, while it is hosted by the Community Councils of Chloraka and Lemba.
The continuation of the research is expected to provide new and valuable information about one of the most important prehistoric settlements in Cyprus.
