The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for storms, valid from 9 am to 5 pm.

According to the bulletin issued, isolated strong storms are expected at intervals, initially in the west and gradually in other areas. Hail is also expected to fall in a storm, while the winds will change and strengthen. The intensity of the rain may locally exceed 35 millimeters per hour.

Low pressure and relatively cold air masses affect the area until Monday. Weak high pressure is expected from Tuesday.

Today the weather will be mostly cloudy with local rains and isolated thunderstorms. Hail may fall in a storm, while snow or sleet is likely to fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. Thin dust will be suspended in the atmosphere. Winds will initially be variable light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, to gradually become southwest to westerly, of the same intensity. Later they will strengthen to strong, 5 Beaufort and locally in the windward very strong to strong, 6 to 7 Beaufort. The sea will initially be rough to gradually become wavy. The temperature will rise to around 19 degrees inland and on the coasts and around 10 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight the weather will remain mostly cloudy with local rains and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the western half of the island. Snow or sleet is expected to fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. Winds will blow southwest to west strong to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort, and transient locally to strong, 6 to 7 Beaufort. The sea will be wavy and locally wavy to very wavy. The temperature will drop to around 9 degrees inland, around 12 on the coast and around 3 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Monday the weather will be mostly cloudy with local rains and isolated thunderstorms. Snow or sleet is expected to fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. On Tuesday, locally increased clouds will be observed from time to time, which mainly after noon may give isolated rain. On Wednesday the weather will be mostly clear.

The temperature is expected to gradually rise until Wednesday but will continue to fluctuate below the average climatic values.
