2027 marks the 10th anniversary of the most important milestone in the modern history of Paphos: Its operation as the European Capital of Culture, a year when the city of Aphrodite became the European epicenter in culture, culture, tourism and more. The Mayor of Paphos reveals today to "F" that this landmark will be honoured with splendour in Paphos, showing that Paphos still retains everything that made it a successful Capital of Culture with the "Paphos 2017" Organization.
The intention of the municipal authority is to build on 2017 through the establishment and operation of a Cultural Agency, stressed Angelos Onisiforou, revealing that it has already submitted to the services of the Municipality the draft of the actions to get the establishment of this institution on the ground.
The implementation of the plan, he stressed, will be part of a wider program that will celebrate with splendour the 10th anniversary of the operation of our city as ECoC. It was a year that everyone in Paphos and Cyprus enjoyed through the great actions that took place, through the very positive reactions to our operation in an impressive way as the European Capital of Culture, but also through the many infrastructure and development projects we enjoy today.
In order to honour the 10-year anniversary, said Mr. Onisiforou, the Municipality of Paphos will immediately prepare a detailed plan with celebrations and actions that will be the continuation of the Organization for the European Capital of Culture Pafos 2017 and which will lead to the establishment and operation under the Municipality of Paphos of the Cultural Agency of the city.
The Mayor of Paphos acknowledged that the commitments to continue Paphos 2017 through the establishment and operation of such a body were long overdue by his predecessors. Fortunately, however, the cultural action in our city continues by the Municipality, by organizations and by individuals on a regular basis, he noted, which gives us the luxury of having the raw material to build.
2027 will prove to be an important year for our city, wanting to give everywhere the message that its brilliance has not frayed since the brilliant 2017, concluded Angelos Onisiforou.
