MAJOR ROAD WORKS


Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway


On sections of the motorway, from 06 April 2026 to 28 May 2026, between the hours of 09:00 – 15:00 and then 19:00 to 05:30 the next morning, daily except Fridays, Weekends and Public Holidays, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, a section of the right lane of the motorway will be closed, from the “Rizoelias” roundabout up to approximately 3km before its connection with the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, successively for a length of 100 meters each time, simultaneously from both directions, at six different points.


Limassol-Nicosia Motorway


On sections of the Nicosia-Limassol motorway in both directions, from Monday 27/04/2026 to Thursday 07/05/2026, between the hours of 21:00 at night and 05:30 in the morning of the next day (excluding Fridays and weekends), road maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, both lanes of the motorway in one direction will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 3 km and traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction, which will operate with two-way traffic.


Nicosia Perimeter Motorway


From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic towards Andromedas Street and vice versa will be carried out in the two southern lanes with a two-way direction.

On the central island of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway from the Lakatamia Industrial Area interchange to its connection with the A1 Motorway, from Monday 27 April 2026, until Monday 04 May 2026, excluding the Public Holiday of Friday 1 May, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, grass removal works will be carried out. During the works, the expressway lane will be closed to traffic for a length of (3) three kilometers and traffic will be conducted in one lane.


Limassol Bypass


On the section of the bypass road, between the New Hospital junction and the Germasogeia junction in both directions, during the period 17/03/2026-15/05/2026, between the hours of 07:00-16:00, noise barrier cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the Bypass will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m in one direction only, without affecting the traffic lanes of the road.

On the section of the bypass road, between the New Hospital junction and the Mouttagiaka junction in both directions, during the period 17/03/2026-15/05/2026, from Monday to Thursday, from 21:00 at night to 03:00 in the morning of the next day, rainwater sluice cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the bypass will be closed in sections over a length of approximately 200m in one direction only, without affecting the traffic lanes of the road.


Limassol-Paphos Motorway


On sections of the motorway in both directions, between the dates 17/03/2026-15/05/2026, between the hours of 07:00 – 16:00, pothole cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the motorway will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m in one direction only, without affecting the traffic lanes of the road.


Nicosia District


In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, and are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.

Also, within the framework of the "Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia" Project, from Tuesday 17/03/2026 and for a duration of approximately 2 months, the intersection of Famagusta Avenue with Kalavryton Street will be closed. During the works, drivers coming from Kalavryton Street towards Kaimakli / Sopaz are urged to follow the route via Kalavryton-Falirou Street to the adjacent intersection of Piraeus Street with Famagusta Avenue. Drivers heading towards Nicosia / Aglatzia to follow the route via Kalavryton - Persephone - Souliou Street until the junction of Parnithos Street with Larnaca Avenue.


Larnaca District


As part of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C", from Friday 27/03/2026, a section of approximately 400m of the southern lanes of the Coastal Road will be opened to traffic and will operate with two-way traffic using appropriate signage. In addition, from Friday 27/03/2026 and for three months, a section of Galaxia Street in Oroklini will remain closed, from the height of Fotis Pitta Street to Vachamon Street, and traffic will be diverted via Vachamon, Elpidos and Fotis Pitta Streets in Oroklini.

Also, within the framework of the construction works of the Project “Improvement of the Larnaca - Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C”, from Monday 27/04/2026 and for two months, in Oroklini, a section of approximately 200m of Mesopotamias Street, from the height of the Radisson Beach Hotel to the Organized Beach of Oroklini will remain closed, and access will be provided via Oceanias and Afroditis Streets in Oroklini.

During the period between 5/3/2026 – 5/5/2026, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, works will be carried out to construct new photo-controlled pedestrian crossings and reconstruct the pavement at the Larnaca industrial area roundabout in the direction from Nicosia to Aradippou. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 200 meters in length, near the Larnaca Industrial Area roundabout. The left lane on Acropolis Avenue as well as the exit to Aradippou will remain closed to traffic. Traffic towards Aradippou will be diverted via Stadiou Avenue or Fotis Pitta Avenue to Andrea Panayides and Dimitraki Koumantari Streets respectively, using appropriate road markings.

In Larnaca, on Dimitras Street, also within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 14/04/2026-22/05/2026, construction works will be carried out on new pedestrian crossings, construction of a sidewalk and green spaces. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 330 meters, and due to the Works, Dimitras Street will be one-way from the roundabout by the tennis courts to Archiepiskopou Makariou Avenue and Apollonos Street will be one-way from its junction with Kikas and Froso Sountia Streets towards Dimitras Street. Traffic from Archiepiskopou Makariou Avenue to Dimitras Street will be diverted via Archiepiskopou Kyprianou Avenue or Kostis Palamas Street to Kilkis Street with the use of appropriate road markings.

On the Kalo Chorio - Mosfiloti road and on the connecting road with the old Larnaca-Kofinou road, on Saturday, May 2, 2026 between 8:00 in the morning and 5:00 in the afternoon, cable pulling works in manholes will be carried out by Cyta. During the works, the following sections will be affected:

(a) on the Kalo Chorio-Mosfiloti road from the Kalo Chorio roundabout and for a length of 800m in the direction of Kalo Chorio, one lane will be closed sequentially and locally over manholes and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane with STOP & GO signs

(b) on the connecting road, the Kalo Chorio-Mosfiloti road with the old Larnaca-Kofinou road and for a length of 200m, one lane will be closed sequentially and locally over manholes and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane with STOP & GO signs.


Paphos District


In the Municipality of Paphos, as part of the Archbishop Makarios III Avenue Improvement Project, in the areas of the Municipalities of Paphos and Hierokipia (Konia), a section of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue will be closed in the area of ​​the Municipalities of Paphos and Hierokipia, as well as in Konia, from Thursday, January 29, 2026 and for a period of approximately three months. A section of the oncoming lane of the Avenue (along its northern side) will remain closed, from its junction with Achepans Street to the junction of the Avenue with Thasos Street (Konia). The two above-mentioned lanes will operate, Thasos normally, while Achepans Street partially, since traffic will be carried out unhindered in the uphill lane, while in the downhill lane, from the height of the intersection of the road with Vasilikon Street and up to the intersection with the avenue under improvement, ONLY ambulances will be allowed to use it. The ascent towards Konya and the wider area will be carried out ONLY from the motorway exit for Konya. The works will begin at 06.00 am on Thursday 29/01/2026 and will be completed in approximately three months from the start date.
