EUROPEAN NATURA 2000 DAY CELEBRATION

The Department of Environment and Terra Cypria are organizing, in the framework of the "Pandoteira" project, a two-day celebration for the European Natura 2000 Day. The celebration will take place on May 16 and 17, 2026 and will include various activities for young and old.
On Saturday, May 16 at the Cyprus Centre for Environmental Research of Kritou Tera from 9:30 to 13:00, visitors will be able to participate in various activities such as ringing and releasing birds. The birds were accommodated and recovered at the Rehabilitation Center of the Game and Fauna Service.
The event features a series of interactive games that focus on the unique species of the island. Participants learn about Cypriot flora and fauna, discovering endemic species and the importance of protecting local ecosystems through games. It also includes craft making and hiking to Kremiotis Waterfall.
The events continue on Sunday, May 17 at the Smigies picnic area in Akamas. The day will start at 9:00 with ringing and releasing birds and will end with a hike.
