The presence and action of the Police last night was intense, throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols in key points of urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order and increasing the sense of security of the public.
The result of the preventive police operations was the arrest of three persons for various offenses, such as theft, conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor and interference in a judicial process.
As part of these operations, during the night, 201 drivers and 96 passengers were stopped and checked.
At the same time, 47 inspections of premises were carried out, with the aim of dealing with phenomena of delinquency, where eight (8) complaints emerged.
During traffic checks carried out, 90 complaints were made, concerning various traffic violations, while 7 investigated cases of traffic violations also emerged.
Of the complaints made, 19 complaints from drivers for exceeding the speed limit stand out, while in the context of the police examinations, three (3) vehicles were detained.
51 alcohol tests were also carried out, where one complaint emerged, while after relevant checks, three drivers were found positive for drug tests.
Coordinated policing operations, for the prevention and suppression of crime, continue daily, with an increased/enhanced police presence, targeted controls and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing the sense of security of citizens/protecting citizens and ensuring public order.

On 3/5/2026, officers of the Customs Department at Larnaca Airport, after evaluating information, carried out a check on the luggage of two passengers with Bulgarian citizenship, who were due to depart for Manchester, United Kingdom. During the check carried out on the luggage, the following were found:
- In the luggage of the first passenger, 127 boxes of 200 cigarettes each,
- In the luggage of the second passenger, 119 boxes of 200 cigarettes each,
which did not bear markings on the harmful to health in the Greek and Turkish languages, an indication that they are duty-free.

Those involved were arrested for self-inflicted offenses, while the tobacco products in question were confiscated. On Monday morning, they are expected to be brought before the Larnaca District Court for a detention order to be issued.

Around 8.30 a.m. today information was received to the Police about a fire in a store in Paphos, owned by a 40-year-old man. Members of the Police went to the scene, which they cordoned off for examinations.
As it was established, the fire was noticed by a neighboUr, around 2 a.m., who extinguished it using rubber, without informing the Police and the Fire Service.
From the examinations at the scene, it was found that the fire was set maliciously using flammable material.
The fire caused damage to the glass showcase, the masonry and the equipment of the store.
The Paphos Police Department is investigating the case.
