SUDDEN CLOUDINESS CAUSED POWER OUTAGES THROUGHOUT CYPRUS - THE PHOTOVOLTAIC PRODUCTION SYSTEM WAS PUT OUT OF OPERATION
- Filenews 17/4

Power outages in several areas of Cyprus were caused by the sharp cloudiness, which put the photovoltaic production system out of operation.

Speaking to Filenews, EAC spokesperson Christina Papadopoulou said that the sudden absence of sunshine resulted in the cessation of production from photovoltaics, while demand remained elevated, creating an imbalance in the system.

As she explained, in such cases the system immediately proceeds to cut off consumers, until the balance between production and demand is restored and production units with liquid fuels are installed.

According to her, the problem lasted only a few minutes and now the electricity supply has been restored for everyone.
