Serious developments in the buffer zone in Pyla, as a result of Turkish moves in the area, as tanks were transferred to the site while strong forces of the British Bases were deployed. This was preceded by a dispute between the occupying forces and UNFICYP in the previous days. It is noted that in recent days, the Turkish occupation army had invaded the buffer zone, first with a police presence, to prevent veterinary services from visiting veterinary units.
It is, however, clear that the whole operation of the Turkish side is aimed at imposing new fait accompli. Today, the occupying forces have strengthened and upgraded their presence in the area, provoking the reaction of the Peacekeeping Force.
