"MY SON, WHERE AM I GOING?'' - SIGNS WERE PLACED ON DANGEROUS BUILDINGS IN GERMASOGEIA - ''ELDERLY PEOPLE, ALONE, WHO SUDDENLY FIND THEMSELVES IN FRONT OF A PIECE OF PAPER ON THEIR DOOR'' - Filenews 19/4

Signs and announcements with the indication "Do not enter" have been placed in the last few days in eight buildings in Germasogeia, which have been deemed dangerous, following relevant instructions from the competent authorities. Through the announcements, tenants are asked not to enter the buildings due to the perceived danger.

The issue is brought back with a public intervention by the deputy mayor of Germasogeia, Christos Papamichael, who raises questions about what is provided in practice for tenants who are asked to leave their homes. As he states in a post on social media, the problem is not limited to determining the danger of buildings, but also extends to whether there is state care to support people displaced from their homes.
In this context, the deputy mayor also conveyed the reaction of an 80-year-old tenant, who, seeing the relevant document in his place of residence, asked him: "My son, where am I going?". Mr. Papamichael's statement highlights the social dimension of the issue, focusing on the fate of citizens who are called upon to immediately remove from dangerous buildings.

This is the post of Mr. Papamichael:

After the tragic event of last Saturday, announcements have been placed in apartment buildings in Germasogeia that characterize specific buildings as dangerous, with a directive:

"DANGER – DO NOT ENTER."

And rightly so. Human life is above all.

But here an essential question arises:

What happens in practice?

We hear statements from the competent Minister and the Chairman of the Interior Committee that there are tools and procedures.

But the question is simple:

a) Can these be implemented immediately?

b) Is there a mechanism that works in practice?

As Deputy Mayor of Germasogeia, I already receive phone calls from our fellow citizens.

Elderly people, alone, who suddenly find themselves in front of a piece of glue on their door.

An 80-year-old man asked me:

"Son, where am I going?"

And the question is not theoretical. It's absolutely real.

The issue, therefore, is not only the identification of the risk.

It is what the state provides and especially what the state ensures for these people.

Is there a clear framework for immediate relocation?

Is there support?

Is there coordination of services?

Or do we limit ourselves to findings and statements?

This is not the time for responsibilities at the level of impressions.

It is time to see if the legislative framework we have can really be implemented and protect citizens.

Because in practice, security is not an announcement.

It is a solution.
