MR PHAEDONOS TRIAL TO START 28 MAY - Pafos Live 21/4
The suspended mayor of Paphos, Phaedonas Phaedonos, was referred to a direct trial before the permanent criminal court of Paphos that will convene on May 28.
The proceedings were conducted behind closed doors at the request of the prosecution. The representative Ms. Savva invoked the nature of the offenses and the protection of the victim.
One of the defense attorneys of Mr. Phaedonos, Christos Pourgouridis, did not object to the present proceedings. He said, however, that the defense will request that the hearing be held openly to inform, as he said, the public about what exactly happened. His client ended up pilloried for months and the process must be public. Mr Phaedonos, who faces four charges, signed a personal guarantee for €100,000.
