CONCERN ABOUT APARTMENT BUILDING IN PAPHOS

CONCERN ABOUT APARTMENT BUILDING IN PAPHOS - Pafos Live 21/4

The situation of an apartment building in the core of Paphos is causing serious concerns about the safety of citizens and tenants, as reported in a letter sent by the District Coordinator of the Paphos Social Alliance, Giorgos Kounas, to the Minister of the Interior, Constantinos Ioannou.

The letter points out that the apartment building in question, which is located on Renou Street, within the historic commercial center of the city, shows extensive damage and serious indications of static deficiency.

As it is emphasized, the condition of the building poses an immediate danger not only to the tenants but also to passing citizens, as well as to the neighbouring premises.

Despite the obvious danger, according to Mr. Kounas, the necessary measures have not been taken so far for the restoration or safe management of the apartment building, which intensifies the concern of the residents and professionals of the area. Photographic material documenting the current situation is also attached to the letter.

The District Coordinator of the Paphos Social Alliance warns that, without immediate intervention by the competent authorities, there is a serious risk of causing an accident with tragic consequences. "Such an eventuality can and must be prevented," it is characteristically noted.

Finally, an appeal is made to the Ministry of the Interior for an immediate inspection of the building, an assessment of the situation and the adoption of the necessary measures, with the aim of ensuring public safety in the city center.
