MAJOR ROAD WORKS


Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway


During the period 2/3/2026 – 30/4/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning and watering of plants will be carried out on the slopes of the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway in Larnaca district in both directions, by the Department of Forestry. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected.


Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway


Periodic road maintenance works will be carried out at the exit of the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway, towards Klavdia, in the direction from Larnaca to Kofinou, on Wednesday 15/04/2026, from 07:00 in the morning until 15:00. During the works, the exit towards Klavdia will be closed and traffic towards Klavdia will be diverted via the next exit towards Alethriko and the old Larnaca-Kofinou road.


Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway


On sections of the motorway, from 06 April 2026 to 28 May 2026, between the hours of 09:00 – 15:00 and then 19:00 to 05:30 the next morning, daily except Fridays, Weekends and Public Holidays, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, a section of the right lane of the motorway will be closed, from the “Rizoelias” roundabout up to approximately 3km before its connection with the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, successively for a length of 100 meters each time, simultaneously from both directions, at six different points.

On the motorway, at the Lympia exit towards Nicosia, on Wednesday 15/04/2026 from 20:00 in the evening until 05:00 in the morning of the next day, road surface removal and resurfacing works will be carried out. Traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane of the road. Also, the entrance from the Larnaca to Lympia motorway will be closed and drivers are urged to use the next exit Pera Choriou Nisou/Agia Varvara towards Lympia. The Lympia exit towards the motorway towards Nicosia will remain open.


Limassol-Nicosia Motorway


On the section of the Nicosia-Limassol motorway in both directions between the Skarinou interchange and the junction with Athalassa and Limassol avenues, in Nicosia, from Monday 23/03/2026 until Thursday 30/04/2026, except Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, from 22:00 at night until 05:00 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. The works will be carried out in sections with one lane closed at a time.

On the section of the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, between Skarinou and Germasogeia, on Wednesday 15/04/2026 and Thursday 16/04/2026 from 21:00 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. the following day, work will be carried out to install anti-glare curtains on the central island. During the work, the right lane in the direction of Limassol will be partially closed and traffic will be directed to the left lane and traffic will be managed with the mobile construction site system.


Nicosia Perimeter Motorway


From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic to the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic to Andromedas Street and vice versa will be carried out in the two southern lanes with a two-way direction.


Limassol Bypass


In the section of the bypass road, between the New Hospital junction and the Germasogeia junction in both directions, during the period 17/03/2026-15/05/2026, between the hours of 07:00-16:00, noise barrier cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the Bypass will be closed in sections over a length of approximately 200m in one direction only, without affecting the traffic lanes of the road.

On the section of the bypass road, between the New Hospital junction and the Mouttagiaka junction in both directions, during the period 17/03/2026-15/05/2026, from Monday to Thursday, from 21:00 at night to 03:00 in the morning of the next day, rainwater sluice cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the bypass will be closed in sections over a length of approximately 200m in one direction only, without affecting the traffic lanes of the road.


Motorway Limassol-Paphos 


On sections of the motorway in both directions, between the dates 17/03/2026-15/05/2026, between the hours of 07:00 – 16:00, pothole cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the motorway will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m in one direction only, without affecting the traffic lanes of the road.



Nicosia District


In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, and are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.

Also, within the framework of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, from Tuesday 17/03/2026 and for a duration of approximately 2 months, the intersection of Famagusta Avenue with Kalavryton Street will be closed. During the works, drivers coming from Kalavryton Street towards Kaimakli / Sopaz are urged to follow the route via Kalavryton-Falirou Street to the adjacent intersection of Piraeus Street with Famagusta Avenue. Drivers heading towards Nicosia / Aglatzia should follow the route via Kalavryton - Persephone - Soulio Street to the intersection of Parnithos Street with Larnaca Avenue.


Limassol District


On Omonia Avenue, Limassol, from Tuesday 14/04/2026 to Thursday 16/04/2026, between the hours of 20:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking work will be carried out. During the work, one lane of traffic will be closed at all times, per direction, and traffic will be conducted via the other lane.

On a section of Nikos and Despinas Pattihi Avenue, Limassol, on Wednesday 15/04/2026, from 21:00 to 06:00 in the morning of Thursday 16/04/2026, asphalt paving work will be carried out. During the works, the following arrangements will apply:

The western section of Nikou and Despina Pattihi Avenue, from its junction with Dikaiarchou Street to its junction with Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, will remain closed. Traffic will be diverted to the eastern section of the said Avenue with two-way traffic.

The section of Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue from its junction with Vasileos Konstantinou Street to Theodorou Potamianou Street will also remain closed.


Larnaca District


On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, as part of the construction works of the Project “Improvement of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C”, from Friday 19/12/2025 and for a period of four months, the works of the 5th and final phase of the Project will be carried out, on the section of the road from the height of the Organized Oroklini Beach (Kiosk) to the junction with Pyla. During the works, this section of the road will be closed to traffic in both directions and traffic will be diverted via Galaxia, Salaminos, Selinis and Oceanias streets, in Oroklini and Ithakis street, in Pyla. For residents and businesses in the area, appropriate arrangements will be made for access to their premises.

Also, within the framework of the construction works of the Project “Improvement of the Larnaca - Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C”, from Friday 27/03/2026, a section of approximately 400m of the southern lanes of the Coastal Road will be opened to traffic and will operate with two-way traffic using appropriate signage. In addition, from Friday 27/03/2026 and for three months, a section of Galaxia Street in Oroklini will remain closed, from the height of Fotis Pitta Street to Vachamon Street, and traffic will be diverted via Vachamon, Elpidos and Fotis Pitta Streets in Oroklini.

Within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 26/02/2026-24/04/2026, construction works of a light-controlled pedestrian crossing will be carried out on Makariou Avenue, in Larnaca. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 40 meters in length, on Makariou Avenue, from the Larnaca Port Roundabout to Theodorou Kolokotroni Street. The left lane of traffic on Makariou Avenue, heading towards Larnaca, will remain closed and traffic will be diverted to the right lane using appropriate road markings. For the smooth passage of traffic, the one-way section of Th. Kolokotroni Street from Makariou C’ Avenue to its junction with G. Drosini Street will be removed and converted into a dead end and Georgiou Dros Street will be converted into a one-way street.    with a permitted route from Th. Kolokotroni Street to Meli Nikolaidi Street.

During the period between 5/3/2026 – 5/5/2026, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, works will be carried out to construct new photo-controlled pedestrian crossings and reconstruct the pavement at the Larnaca industrial area roundabout in the direction from Nicosia to Aradippou. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 200 meters in length, near the Larnaca Industrial Area roundabout. The left lane on Acropolis Avenue as well as the exit to Aradippou will remain closed to traffic. Traffic towards Aradippou will be diverted via Stadiou Avenue or Fotis Pitta Avenue to Andrea Panayides and Dimitraki Koumantaris Streets respectively, using appropriate road markings.

During the period between 5/3/2026 – 20/4/2026, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, construction works of ZEBRA-type pedestrian crossings will be carried out on Archbishop Makarios III Avenue and Kyriakou Matsi and Omirou Streets in Aradippou. The works will be carried out in sections, in a section of approximately 20 meters in length and during the execution of the works, one traffic lane will be used and traffic will be channelled using the STOP & GO method and the use of appropriate road markings at the affected points.

On Acropolis Avenue near the Larnaca Industrial Area roundabout, during the period 30/03/2026-20/04/2026, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, construction works will be carried out on a new light-controlled pedestrian crossing and central island. During the works in the above section, for a length of approximately 60 meters, the right lane of Acropolis Avenue will remain closed to traffic in both directions. Traffic will be channelled through the left lane using appropriate road markings.

At the intersection of Spyros Kyprianou Avenue and Omirou Street, in Aradippou, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 03/04/2026-17/04/2026, construction works of ramps and an island will be carried out. During the works at the above intersection, the left lane of Spyros Kyprianou Avenue will remain closed to traffic, for a length of approximately 150 meters. Traffic will be directed to the right lane, with the use of appropriate temporary road markings.

Also on Acropolis Avenue, in the area of ​​the Larnaca Industrial Area roundabout, heading from Nicosia to Larnaca, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Larnaca Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, in the period 07/04/2026-28/04/2026, construction works will be carried out for new photo-controlled pedestrian crossings and reconstruction of the pavement. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 200 meters, near the Larnaca Industrial Area roundabout. The left lane on Acropolis Avenue will remain closed to traffic and traffic will be diverted to the right lane using appropriate road markings.

In Larnaca, on Dimitras Street, also within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, in the period 14/04/2026-22/05/2026, construction works will be carried out for new pedestrian crossings, construction of a sidewalk and green spaces. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 330 meters in length, and due to the Works, Dimitras Street will be one-way from the roundabout by the tennis courts towards Archbishop Makariou Avenue and Apollonos Street will be one-way from its junction with Kikas Street and Froso Sountia Street towards Dimitras Street. Traffic from Archbishop Makariou Avenue to Dimitras Street will be diverted via Archbishop Kyprianou Avenue or Kostis Palamas Street to Kilkis Street using appropriate road markings.


Paphos District


In the Municipality of Paphos, as part of the Archbishop Makariou Avenue III Improvement Project, in the areas of the Municipalities of Paphos and Hierokipia (Konia), a section of Archbishop Makariou Avenue III will be closed in the area of ​​the Municipalities of Paphos and Hierokipia, as well as in Konia, from Thursday, January 29, 2026 and for a period of approximately three months. A portion of the on-ramp of the Avenue (along its northern side) will remain closed, from its junction with Achepans Street to the junction of the Avenue with Thasos Street (Konia). The two above if The lanes in question will operate, Thasos normally, while Achepans Street partially, since traffic will proceed unhindered in the uphill lane, while in the downhill lane, from the height of the intersection of the road with Vasilikon Street and up to the intersection with the avenue under improvement, ONLY ambulances will be allowed to use it. The ascent towards Konya and the wider area will be done ONLY from the motorway exit for Konya. The works will begin at 06.00 a.m. on Thursday 29/01/2026 and will be completed in approximately three months from the start date.
