Cyprus has announced its intention to provide humanitarian aid of at least €850,000 within 2026 to Sudan and its neighbouring countries through CyprusAid, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In a post on X, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that during the 3rd International Humanitarian Conference on Sudan held in Berlin, Cyprus announced its intention to provide, through CyprusAid, at least €850,000 in humanitarian aid within 2026 to Sudan and its neighbouring countries, "in response to calls to support the affected population, with an emphasis on the vulnerable categories of children and women".
According to the post, humanitarian aid through CyprusAid will be provided, in addition to Sudan, to South Sudan, Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, Eritrea, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Cameroon and Egypt, through support from programs of UNICEF, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA).
Africa remains "one of the main priorities" of CyprusAid, the Ministry says.
