"ERMINIO" IS COMING AND BRINGING RAIN, STORMS AND STRONG WINDS - YELLOW WARNING IN PLACE 6pm TODAY TILL11AM 2 APRIL - Filenews 1/4
The yellow warning issued by the Meteorological Service for rains and isolated thunderstorms comes into force this afternoon. Specifically, the warning will come into force at 18:00 today until tomorrow Thursday 02/4 at 11:00am.
The barometric low named ERMINIO and centered in Sicily, is moving east and is expected to affect the wider region.
Dust will be suspended in the atmosphere, the concentrations of which are expected to be increased at times.
The forecast in detail
Today the weather will soon become mostly cloudy, while there will be temporary rains in places, especially in the west and in the mountains. From late afternoon onwards, however, the weather is expected to worsen, as rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected. Winds will blow northeast to southeast moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, and transient on the windward coasts to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort. The sea will initially be a little rough but will gradually become generally rough. The temperature will rise to around 19 degrees inland, on the south and east coasts, around 21 on the west and north coasts and around 15 degrees in the higher mountains.
Rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected tonight. In places the phenomena may be intense. Winds will blow northeast to southeast moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, and temporarily locally strong, 5 Beaufort. In a storm, the winds will strengthen and change. The sea will be generally rough. The temperature will drop to around 11 degrees inland, around 15 on the coast and around 8 degrees in the higher mountains.
On Thursday, local rains and isolated thunderstorms are initially expected, however gradually by noon the weather is expected to improve noticeably, with the phenomena limited to isolated rains. On Friday, increased clouds are expected to give isolated rains at times. On Saturday the weather will initially be mostly clear, however gradually increased clouds will be observed in places, which after noon are expected to give isolated rains and possibly an isolated storm, mainly in the mountains and in the eastern half of the island.
The temperature on Thursday will rise to fluctuate close to or slightly above the average climatic values. On Friday it will not change appreciably, however on Saturday it will drop to fluctuate below the average climatic values.
