There is a relative improvement in the situation at the Agios Dometios roadblock and relevant procedures have been initiated at the Zodiac roadblock, while the problems in Deryneia are expected to be resolved, said Toufan Erhurman.
According to electronic media in the occupied territories, speaking to a television station, the Turkish Cypriot leader commented on the recent developments in the "parliament" and the issuance of a "legislative decree" on the issue of the ATA, for which, as he said, he did not receive any prior information. Referring to the recent incidents during the protests of the trade unions, he recalled the injury of several people. He said that he had contacts with both the "Prime Minister" Unal Oustel and representatives of the trade unions, in an effort to create a climate of dialogue and find a consensual solution. However, he stressed that in his meeting with Mr. Ustel, he was not even mentioned the possibility of issuing a "legislative decree".
As he explained, he was informed of the decision the next morning through the "official newspaper". Toufan said the move irreparably damaged confidence. At the same time, he wondered if from now on every "government that is worried that a bill will not be passed" will resort to this method bypassing the "parliament".
