A total of 77 complaints arose from Police Group Z, of which 23 concerned illegal parking offenses during traffic checks yesterday morning in Nicosia.
It should be noted that the Police announced a week of information and policing with intensified traffic controls, with an emphasis on carrying out speed limit checks, with the aim of preventing serious and fatal road collisions.
The intensified checks started on Monday 13/04/2026 and will last until Sunday 19/04/2026, while at the same time they will be carried out at a pan-European level, in the context of the cooperation of the Cyprus Police with the European Traffic Police Network ROADPOL.
Speeding is one of the main causes of serious and fatal road collisions, the Police said in a statement.

A 41-year-old woman and a 19-year-old were brought before the Paphos District Court yesterday, who were arrested as suspects in connection with investigated cases of conspiracy to commit a felony.
The two suspects are also allegedly linked to two cases of car arson, arson of a property, attempted arson of a property, money laundering, as well as other offenses.
The court issued eight-day detention orders against them, to facilitate police investigations.
The two arrested are suspected of a total of twelve offenses, including conspiracy to commit a felony, arson, attempted arson, as well as participation in a criminal organization. The authorities are considering the possibility of connecting them with other similar cases that have been recorded recently in other provinces.
The 19-year-old allegedly admitted to receiving a sum of money of €1.000 for participating in one of the four cases being examined in Paphos. The cases concern two arsons of vehicles on March 25 and April 6, the arson of a café on Agapinoros Avenue on April 4, as well as an attempted arson of the same premises in the early hours of Wednesday. However, the 19-year-old has so far not named the person who allegedly paid him, while the authorities are also looking for a relative of his, who may be involved in the case.
The investigation of the case began to unfold in the early hours of Wednesday at 4:25, when members of the Police spotted a rental vehicle with fake license plates, in which two people were riding, parked outside a café that had recently been targeted by arsonists.
The occupants approached the premises holding a bottle and a bat, however as soon as they realized the presence of the police, they fled. A chase followed, during which the vehicle collided with official cars and moved dangerously on the Paphos-Limassol highway, before ending up in a village in the province of Nicosia. The vehicle was found parked outside a house, where the 41-year-old was. She allegedly admitted that she had rented the car from an office in Larnaca and that she was giving it to relatives of her husband, who is serving a prison sentence for serious cases.
However, he denies any involvement in the arsons. A short time later, the 19-year-old was also located, who was walking on a dirt road in the same province. During his arrest, he allegedly attacked a police officer, hitting him in the face, as a result of which he was arrested for a flagrante delicto.

The Police arrested a 51-year-old and a 30-year-old woman yesterday, as part of the investigation of cases involving burglaries and thefts.
A 37-year-old man reported to the Police yesterday that the residence where he lives in Protaras was broken into, from where a sum of money and two pairs of airpods, with a total value of €900, were stolen.
It should be noted that, from a signal emitted by the stolen airpods, in a specific area in Ayia Napa, it was possible to identify and locate the two suspects.
As part of the investigation of the case, arrest warrants were obtained against two persons aged 51 and 30, who are allegedly involved in four cases of burglary and theft, committed between the dates 14-16/04/2026 in Protaras. The two suspects were located and arrested yesterday afternoon at Paphos airport, during their departure from Cyprus.
From further examinations carried out, it was found that the 51-year-old is involved in ten more cases of night burglaries and thefts, which were committed in the years 2023 and 2025 in Paralimni.
The two arrested are expected to appear today before the Famagusta District Court for a detention order.

Update - A pair of stolen smart headphones (airpods) brought to light the action of a 51-year-old and a 30-year-old woman from Bulgaria, who seem to have been traveling to Cyprus only to steal. The man's action, in fact, seems to have started in 2023, after it was linked to a series of burglaries and thefts from mansions located in a specific area in Protaras.
The two were arrested yesterday afternoon at Paphos airport, shortly before leaving for their country. Today they were taken by the Famagusta Police Department to the Famagusta District Court in Paralimni, which ordered their seven-day detention.
From further examinations carried out, it was found, according to the Police, that the 51-year-old is involved in ten more cases of burglary and theft of houses, which were committed in the years 2023 and 2025 in Paralimni. It is noted that his face had also been recorded in closed surveillance circuits, while the target was again the specific area of Protaras, most of the houses in which are holiday homes. The TAE of Famagusta continues the examinations to determine if the suspects are involved in other burglaries and thefts in the area.

Members of YKAN, on 15/04/2026, in the context of their cooperation with the Customs Department, located at a Mail Sorting Center in Nicosia, a postal parcel which arrived from a foreign country, containing a package of cannabis with a gross weight of 400 grams.
As part of the investigation of the case, a court warrant was issued against a 23-year-old man, who was located and arrested yesterday afternoon.
Today he is expected to appear before the District Court of Nicosia, for the issuance of a detention order.

The Police arrested a 58-year-old man yesterday, as part of an investigation into a case involving illegal import, possession and possession of drugs for the purpose of supply.
Members of YKAN, as part of their cooperation with the Customs Department, conducted a search yesterday in a container located in a warehouse in Limassol, where 150 paper packages with 590 preparations containing cannabinol – CBN (class A drug) and cannabidiol – CBD were located and confiscated. Also, 100 chocolates containing cannabis were found.

As part of the investigation of the case, a court warrant was issued against a 58-year-old man, who was located and arrested last night, while today he is expected to appear before the Limassol District Court, for the issuance of a detention order.

The Police arrested three people yesterday, as part of an investigation into a case involving illegal supply, possession and possession of drugs for the purpose of supply.
Members of YKAN, in the context of evaluating information and actions taken in order to identify and arrest persons who are systematically involved in drug trafficking and trafficking, proceeded to locate and confiscate 14 grams of heroin.
Around 3.30 p.m. yesterday, the members of YKAN, after evaluating information, stopped for inspection a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old man, with a 30-year-old and a 23-year-old passenger, in the area of Larnaca.
In a search, 26 nylon packages containing a total amount of heroin with a gross weight of 14 grams were found inside the vehicle and confiscated.
From further examinations carried out, it was found that the 30-year-old and 23-year-old reside illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, while the 26-year-old was driving without a registration certificate and without a certificate of suitability.
In a subsequent search inside the house where the three persons live, the amount of €190 was located and confiscated. Also, inside the house, a 24-year-old woman was located and arrested for the crime of illegal stay.
The three suspects were arrested on court warrants and taken into custody to facilitate investigations.

The presence and action of the Police last night was intense, throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols in key points of urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order and increasing the sense of security of the public.
During the night, 468 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 581 drivers and passengers were checked. At the same time, 45 inspections of premises were carried out, without any complaints.
During traffic checks carried out, 275 complaints were made for various traffic violations, of which 115 concern driving at excessive speed. A total of 132 alcohol tests were carried out during which four drivers were found positive. Also, as part of the police examinations, eight vehicles were detained.
