CELESTYAL SAFELY CROSSED HORMUZ AND TURNS TO THE MEDITERRANEAN - Filenews 21/4

Celestyal announced the safe and successful passage of its two ships, Celestyal Discovery and Celestyal Journey, through the Strait of Hormuz, at a time of heightened tension in the region, underlining that this development is a significant operational milestone for the company and the cruise industry.

According to the announcement, the Celestyal Discovery was the first cruise ship to depart from the Arabian Gulf on April 17, following a specially coordinated sailing plan, which was drawn up in collaboration with local authorities and maritime security teams. The company says this move has created a safe and tested route through the Strait, paving the way for other cruise ships.

A day later, on April 18, the Celestyal Journey also successfully crossed the same pass, leading, according to the company, a wider convoy of cruise ships leaving the area following the same established route.

Celestyal points out that the transit plans were developed in close collaboration with the relevant authorities and security agencies involved, aiming to ensure the highest levels of safety, accuracy, and operational readiness in all movements.

As reported, safety remained the absolute priority throughout the operation, with the company attaching particular importance to the leadership, experience and composure shown by Captains Nikolaos Vassiliou and Angelos Vasilakos, in collaboration with the crews and support teams on shore.

The company also acknowledges the contribution of regional authorities and its partners, noting that their support has contributed to a coordinated and responsible management, with a positive impact for the wider cruise industry as well.

After the successful crossing, the two ships are now heading to the Mediterranean, where they are expected to start the summer season normally, according to the company's planning.

Celestyal assures that all planned future cruises will take place without changes, seeking to offer a sense of confidence and reliability to both passengers and tour operators in view of its new activity in the Mediterranean.
