ATTENTION - COUNTERFEIT BANKNOTES ARE IN CIRCULATION - FOUND IN ALL PROVINCES - Filenews 31/3

The National Banknote Analysis Center of the Police Criminal Investigation Service warns citizens about the circulation of counterfeit banknotes with a face value of €50, whose serial number begins with the Latin characters WR.

It is pointed out that these counterfeit banknotes have been found in all the provinces of free Cyprus.

Therefore, the public is urged to carefully check the notes they receive during their cash transactions. Businessmen/shopkeepers are also encouraged to check banknotes with counterfeit detection machines approved by the European Central Bank before receiving them.

In case of detection, the banknotes should be withheld and citizens should contact the nearest Police Station or the provincial Crime Investigation Departments (T.A.E.) at the following numbers:
