YELLOW WEATHER WARNING -STRONG WINDS,STORMS AND HAIL - Filenews 19/3


The weather will be rainy today, according to the Meteorological Service. The winds will initially blow mainly northeast, light to moderate and locally moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, to become mainly northwesterly in the late afternoon, of the same intensity.

The temperature will rise to 19 degrees inland, around 20 on the coast and 9 degrees in the higher mountains.

The Meteorological Service issued a yellow warning for strong storms, hail and enhanced winds was issued by the Department of Meteorology. The warning is in effect from 11:00 in the morning until 18:00 in the afternoon.

Today, the weather will be cloudy at times with local rains and isolated thunderstorms. Hail is also expected to fall in a storm. Dust will be observed in the atmosphere which will recede by the evening. The winds will initially blow mainly northeast, light to moderate and locally moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, to become mainly northwesterly in the late afternoon, of the same intensity. The sea will be up to rough. The temperature will rise to 19 degrees inland, around 20 on the coast and 9 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will be partly cloudy, while isolated rains or even a storm are expected, mainly on the west and north coasts. Winds will be mainly west to northwest, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and locally in the windward strong, 5 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough to rough and later rough in the windward. The temperature will drop to 9 degrees inland, around 10 on the south and east coasts, around 13 on the west and north coasts and 3 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost is expected to form locally.

On Friday and over the weekend, local rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected from time to time. Hail is likely to fall in a storm, while snow or sleet is expected to fall on the highest peaks of Troodos.

The temperature will gradually drop slightly until Saturday to fluctuate below the average climatic values, while a slight rise is expected on Sunday.
