THE SPOTLIGHT ON PAPHOS

THE SPOTLIGHT ON PAPHOS - Pafos Live 9/3

The visit of the French President and the Prime Minister of Greece today to Cyprus sends clear political messages for the support of a united Europe to the Republic of Cyprus.

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, will meet with Emmanuel Macron and Kyriakos Mitsotakis – and they will jointly visit the "Andreas Papandreou" Air Base, where 4 Greek fighter jets have been stationed since the first days of the new crisis in the region. Greece, France and other countries of the union have proven in practice their support for the Republic of Cyprus by sending strong forces to the region, creating a dome of protection of critical infrastructure and Cyprus in general.

The government spokesman, Konstantinos Letympiotis, said that President Christodoulidis is in constant and continuous coordination with leaders of European member states, but also with countries in the region, especially with the Greek Prime Minister, the President of France and with the Prime Minister of Italy.

According to French media, Macron will emphasize the importance of guaranteeing maritime security in the region. Government sources in Athens say that Kyriakos Mitsotakis' visit is part of the defense assistance provided by Greece to Cyprus. In his post, the Prime Minister of Greece underlined that as soon as the conflict in the Middle East threatened the Hellenism of Cyprus, Greece stood by his side.
