POLICE CAMPAIGN re SEAT BELTS/BOOSTER SEATS - 9-15 March - Pafos Live 9/3
The Police are announcing a nationwide campaign to control the use of seat belts and child/booster seats with the ultimate goal of reducing serious and fatal injuries in road traffic collisions.
The campaign will start today, Monday, March 09, and will last until Sunday, March 15, 2026. The aim of the campaign is to achieve through policing, the awareness of car drivers and passengers in the use of seat belts in both the front and rear seats, as well as in the use of child and booster seats.
This campaign will be carried out at the same time and at a pan-European level in the context of the cooperation of the Traffic Department, with the European Traffic Police Network ROADPOL.
The seat belt remains the most effective safety feature in motor vehicles. According to the analysis of the available statistics for the three-year period 2022 – 2024, 50.9% of the fatal drivers and vehicle occupants were not wearing a seat belt.
