THE AVATAR OF MARIKKUS IS COMING TO LEFKARA - Filenews 28/3
The holographic Avatars of Mariccus, Lefkara and Leonardo da Vinci, which will come to life with the help of artificial intelligence, are now in the process of being created. The legendary embroiderer and the great Italian painter will take on the role of ... guides at the Larnaca Mountainous Environmental Information Center in Skarinou, giving information about the Larnaca countryside, historical events and various destinations.
The Larnaca-Famagusta Development Agency (ANETEL) announced the signing of a contract with PwC Cyprus for the implementation of the pioneering digital project, which will be carried out in the framework of the European project REVIVE – Interreg Euro-MED. The project, as stated by ANETEL, "concerns the development of an interactive digital AI Avatar of Mariccus that Lefkara, inspired by the rich tradition of Lefkara embroidery, combined with the emblematic figure of Leonardo da Vinci, one of the leading figures of world cultural heritage".
With the use of advanced artificial intelligence technologies and holographic imaging, the project aims to highlight the cultural identity of the area in a modern and attractive way, offering visitors a unique interaction experience. Visitors will be able to interact with the digital Avatars and receive information about attractions, traditional arts and local businesses, as well as photographic material. ANTEL's goal is to provide "immersive tourism and educational experiences", which will be achieved through an 86-inch high-definition (4K) touch screen, with a built-in computer, which will operate the Avatars in real time.
The project is funded by the Interreg Euro-MED programme, with a total budget of €2,380,000.
