SMARTKALATHI - FREE APP FOR SUPERMARKET PRICES - Filenews 21/3
Madingley Technologies has announced the launch of SmartKalathi, a new free mobile app that allows consumers in Cyprus to compare product prices across major supermarket chains, leveraging official public price data.
According to the announcement, the app enables users to instantly identify which supermarket offers the best price for each product, track price history, and calculate the total cost of their purchases before heading to the store.
The company says that, in a time of increased cost of living, tools that enhance price transparency can help households make more informed decisions about their daily purchases.
SmartKalathi is based on publicly available price data from the e-kalathi platform of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, which is published under Law 150(I)/2023 on recording and monitoring retail prices of products.
Among the app's key functionalities are real-time price comparison, price evolution tracking through interactive charts, barcode scanner, smart shopping cart, store locator, and bilingual support in Greek and English.
The application, according to the company, covers large supermarket chains in Cyprus, including Alphamega, Sklavenitis, Athienitis, Lidl, Metro and Papantoniou, as well as other chains.
Madingley Technologies even mentions that SmartKalathi is 100% free, requires no account creation, and does not collect any personal data.
The app is available for free download via Google Play for Android devices and through the Apple App Store for iOS devices.
In a statement, the CEO of Madingley Technologies, Eleftherios Ioannou, said that the goal of the application is to provide Cypriot consumers with the tools they need to make smarter purchases and save money.
The company clarifies that SmartKalathi is an independent application, which was developed by Madingley Technologies and is not affiliated with the Government of Cyprus.
