POTIMA BAY - UNDERGOING A FACELIFT WAITING FOR PAPHOS MARINA - Filenews 23/3 by Dora Christodoulou

Their name has now become synonymous with Paphos Marina, even if we haven't seen it yet. We are talking about the location of Potima in Kissonerga, where it is planned to create the largest Marina in Cyprus with a capacity of one thousand moored boats. However, until the construction project begins, which for 20 years has gone from postponement to postponement and from judicial involvement to legal battle, the Municipality of Akamas, within the boundaries of which Kissonerga now falls with the new reform of the Local Government, has decided to landscape and beautify this coastal area.

In this context, the municipal authority recently signed an agreement with a house of researchers for the elaboration and implementation of an integrated urban and tourist development project in the area.

According to the Mayor of Akamas, Marinos Lambrou, the agreement concerns the provision of consulting services and includes the preparation of studies, the preparation of architectural and technical plans, as well as the supervision of the projects that will be implemented. The aim is to create modern and functional infrastructure, which will upgrade the area aesthetically and qualitatively, while strengthening its tourist and social footprint, he points out.

The project includes the creation of a tourist pavilion, the landscaping of the plot, the construction of a playground, an outdoor gym, a parking space, as well as the configuration of a pedestrian street, offering areas for recreation, sports and safe movement for residents and visitors.

The total amount of the contract amounts to €134,000, said Mr. Lambrou.

With the implementation of the project, the "Potima" area is expected to be transformed into a modern, elegant and multifunctional public space, contributing substantially to the overall upgrade of the Municipal District of Kissonerga, concludes the Mayor of Akamas.
