PAPHOS TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS FOR SUNDAY FOR MARATHON - Filenews 5/3
Traffic arrangements for the organization of the 28th Paphos Marathon "TUI Cyprus Marathon" will be in force from the morning of Sunday, March 8, which will last until 1:00 noon when the running races are completed.
The Marathon starting from Petra tou Romiou will start at 7:00 in the morning with the runners heading towards Paphos running on the old Limassol - Paphos B6 road and taking from the communities of Kouklia, Mandria, Timi and Acheleia. At 7:30 in the morning, traffic will be stopped from the point where the Alphamega supermarket is located in Mandria in the direction of Timi, while vehicles heading to the Airport will be excluded. From the entrance of the road to the Airport to the traffic junction of Koloni, the left lane will remain closed to runners until 11:45 a.m. Drivers will be able to use the other lane of the B6 road from the traffic junction of Koloni in the direction of the Airport. The route will be supervised by the Paphos Police as well as Marathon judges. From 8:00 in the morning until 12:30 p.m. the left lane from the roundabout of Koloni in the direction of Spyros Kyprianou Avenue will be closed until all Marathon runners pass through the Riccos Beach area.
Along with the Marathon, two more running races will be organized, the Half Marathon (21km) and the 10km race, which will have the starting and finishing point in the square of the Medieval Castle of Paphos. From 7:30 in the morning until 12:45 after noon, both traffic lanes of Poseidonos Avenue will remain closed, while after 10:30 a.m. One of the two lanes will be given to traffic (the traffic lane on the hotel side – left lane will remain closed continuously). Both lanes from the Ezousa' roundabout to the Caligula roundabout will also remain closed from 7:30 in the morning until 10:30 a.m. while after 10:30 a.m. the route from the Caligoula roundabout (junction of Danae, Evrorias and Eratou Avenues) to the roundabout at the junction of Agapinoros Street and Spyros Kyprianou Avenue will be opened to traffic.
Drivers are requested to avoid the above routes during the races and to comply with the traffic signs as well as with the instructions of the Police and Traffic Wardens who will be on site to avoid inconvenience.
