NICOTINE POUCHES - NO MORE UNCONTROLLED USE AND SALE - TOBACCO PRODUCTS WITH ALL RESTRICTIONS AND PROHIBITIONS - Filenews 12/3 by Marilena Panayi

The Parliament is trying to put an end to the uncontrolled sale and use of packaged nicotine in pouches, with the parliamentary committee on Health having today secured the agreement of all those involved, including the legal importers and distributors of these products.

The relevant law proposal was discussed during the meeting of the committee with the aim of amending the Health Protection and Smoking Control Law and including provisions that include nicotine bags in controlled tobacco products.

A nicotine pouch, according to the proposed amendment, is considered to be "the manufactured product which does not contain tobacco, is intended for oral administration, without inhalation and without heating or combustion process and which contains a substrate of nicotine or nicotine and other substances in solid form, excluding products intended for medical and pharmaceutical use".

Strict regulations, a summary of warnings and indications on packages and packages that cannot be easily opened by children, were demanded by the representatives of the stakeholders as well as the representatives of the importers and kiosk owners who participated in the meeting.

Everyone's agreement on the proposed law led to an automatic article-by-article discussion of the proposed amendment with the parliamentary committee on Health taking it for granted that it would be passed into law before the end of March.
