NEW SCAM - FRAUDSTERS PRETEND TO BE REVOLUT EXECS - Filenews 7/3
The Police recommend that the public be careful in relation to fraud, in which perpetrators make telephone video calls to citizens and falsely present themselves as internet bank operators, with the aim of stealing money from bank accounts.
The Cybercrime Sub-Directorate of the Police Headquarters received a number of complaints from citizens in relation to the fraud.
The perpetrators make calls through communication apps and falsely pose as operators of the well-known online banking institution Revolut.
The Police calls on the public to be especially careful and to take the following protection measures:
Not to respond to such calls and the instructions given by the perpetrators.
Not to disclose sensitive information, such as passwords, one-time passwords, PINs, account details, identity details, or bank card details.
To verify the identity of the people who communicate through the official customer support channels of the banking institutions.
In the event that citizens have provided the perpetrators with any bank data during such a call, they should immediately inform their banking institution, so that the necessary measures can be taken to avoid unwanted use of their data and available cash balances.
