MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway
During the period 2/3/2026 – 30/4/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning and watering of plants will be carried out on the slopes of the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway in Larnaca district in both directions, by the Department of Forestry. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected.
On sections of the motorway, from March 16, 2026 to April 09, 2026, from 09:00 in the morning until 05:30 the next morning, weekdays except Fridays and weekends, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island will be closed, from the “Airport” roundabout to the “Agia Napa” roundabout, successively for a length of approximately 100 meters each time, simultaneously from both directions, at approximately fifteen different points.
Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway
On the section of the motorway immediately after the exit to Latsia/Geri (Megalo Alexandrou Interchange) up to the GSP Roundabout, on Monday 30/03/2026 and Tuesday 31/03/2026 from 21:00 at night until 05:00 in the morning of the next day. The work will be carried out in sections, closing one lane at a time. Traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane of the road.
Limassol-Nicosia Motorway
On sections of the motorway in both directions, during the period 26/02/2026-27/03//2026, excluding weekends, between the hours of 07:00 – 16:00, pothole cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the motorway will be closed, in sections of approximately 200m in length, in one direction only.
On the section of the Nicosia-Limassol motorway in both directions between the Skarinou interchange and the junction with Athalassa and Limassol avenues, in Nicosia, from Monday 23/03/2026 until Thursday 30/04/2026, except Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, from 22:00 at night until 05:00 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. The works will be carried out in sections with one lane closed at a time.
On sections of the motorway in both directions, during the period 23/03/2026-03/04/2026, between the hours of 07:00 – 16:00, except Sundays and public holidays, safety barrier installation works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the motorway will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m in one direction only, without affecting the traffic lanes of the road.

Nicosia Perimeter Motorway
On Thursday 26/03/2026 and Friday 27/03/2026, between the hours of 09:00 – 16:00, maintenance work will be carried out on the joints of the Perimeter Motorway Bridge located next to the A.H.K. Pillars. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed for a length of approximately (300) three hundred meters and traffic will be diverted to the other lane.
From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Perimetric Motorway, Nicosia Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out through Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic towards Andromedas Street and vice versa will be carried out in the two southern lanes with a two-way direction.
Limassol Bypass
On the section of the bypass road, between the New Hospital junction and the Germasogeia junction in both directions, during the period 17/03/2026-15/05/2026, between the hours of 07:00-16:00, noise barrier cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the Bypass will be closed in sections over a length of approximately 200m in one direction only, without affecting the traffic lanes of the road.
On the section of the bypass road, between the New Hospital junction and the Mouttagiaka junction in both directions, during the period 17/03/2026-15/05/2026, from Monday to Thursday, from 21:00:00 in the evening to 03:00 in the morning of the next day, rainwater gutter cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the Bypass will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m in one direction only, without affecting the traffic lanes of the road.
Limassol-Paphos Motorway
On the motorway in both directions, from Monday 16/03/2026 until Thursday 09/04/2026, except Sundays, between the hours of 08:00 – 17:00, work will be carried out to replace the signs. The works will be carried out on the shoulder of the Motorway and traffic will not be affected.

Nicosia District
In Nicosia and Aglantzia, within the framework of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are being carried out from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, Famagusta Avenue is included from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long. and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.
Also, within the framework of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, from Tuesday 17/03/2026 and for a duration of approximately 2 months, the intersection of Famagusta Avenue with Kalavryton Street will be closed. During the works, drivers coming from Kalavryton Street towards Kaimakli / Sopaz are urged to follow the route via Kalavryton-Falirou Street to the adjacent intersection of Piraeus Street with Famagusta Avenue. Drivers heading towards Nicosia / Aglatzia should follow the route via Kalavryton - Persephone - Soulio Street to the intersection of Parnithos Street with Larnaca Avenue.
In Strovolos, from Monday, March 02, 2026 at 12:00 noon, as part of the construction works for the Improvement / Construction Project of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and part of Tseriou Avenue, Ippokratous Avenue will be opened to traffic along its entire length in four lanes, from its junction with Melinas Mercouri Street in the west to its junction with Tseriou Avenue (new roundabout) in the east. The photo-controlled intersection of Karavostasiou and Nikaias Streets will be put into operation in its final configuration. Ippokratous Avenue will continue to be part of the construction site with the contractor's personnel and machinery moving and carrying out work on it until the completion of the project.
In Strovolos, from Monday, March 9, 2026 at 10:00 in the morning and for a period of 1 (one) month, as part of the construction works, the intersection of Themistokleous Street with Tseriou Avenue will be closed to traffic. The channeling of traffic from Themistokleous Street to Tseriou Avenue and vice versa will be via Ippokratous Avenue and Nikaias Street.
On the interurban road Anthoupolis-Karvounas-Troodos, from Monday, March 23, 2026 until Friday, April 3, 2026, daily except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 09:00 - 17:00, periodic maintenance work on the horizontal markings will be carried out. During the works, the adjacent traffic lane will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 50-100m, each time and traffic will be diverted to the other traffic lane using Stop and Go.
On the Anthoupolis-Palaichori interurban road, in the section between the light-controlled intersection with Agion Trimithias Avenue and the intersection with Anthoupoleos Avenue, from the evening of Monday, March 30, 2026 until the early hours of Sunday, April 05, 2026, between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., road works will be carried out in sections. During the works, the road will be closed. Traffic will be diverted via Agios Georgios Avenue and Anthoupoleos Street, as well as via Eleftherias Street and Orthodoxias Street.
Larnaca District
On the old Nicosia-Limassol road, opposite the Nicosia-Limassol highway exit towards the village Choirokoitia, during the period 23/03/2026–27/03/2026, between the hours of 08:00–16:00, sidewalk construction works will be carried out. During the works, a section of one lane of the old Nicosia-Limassol road, in the direction of Choirokoitia, will be closed for a length of approximately 50-70m. and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane using STOP & GO signs. At the end of each day's works, the road will be opened to traffic.
On the old Larnaca-Nicosia road, in a section near Kosi, for a length of approximately 1km, on Thursday 26/03/2026 and Friday 27/03/2026, from 07:00 in the morning until 15:00, periodic maintenance works of the road surface will be carried out. During the works, one lane of the road will be closed in sections (100 meters at a time) and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, using stop&go and appropriate signage.
On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, within the framework of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C", from Friday 19/12/2025 and for a period of four months, the works of the 5th and final phase of the Project will be carried out, on the section of the road from the height of the Organized Oroklini Beach (Keripteron) to the junction towards Pyla. During the works, this section of the road will be closed to traffic in both directions and traffic will be diverted via Galaxia, Salaminos, Selinis and Oceanias streets, in Oroklini and Ithakis street, in Pyla. For residents and businesses in the area, appropriate arrangements will be made for access to their premises.
Also, as part of the construction works of the Project “Improvement of the Larnaca - Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C”, from Friday 27/03/2026, a section of approximately 400m of the southern lanes of the Coastal Road will be opened to traffic and will operate with two-way traffic using appropriate signage. In addition, from Friday 27/03/2026 and for three months, a section of Galaxia Street in Oroklini will remain closed, from the height of Fotis Pitta Street to Vachamon Street, and traffic will be diverted via Vachamon, Elpidos and Fotis Pitta Streets in Oroklini.
Also, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, from 13/02/2026 until 27/03/2026, works will be carried out on Fotis Kontoglou Street, which is parallel to Spyros Kyprianou Avenue. The works will be carried out on a 40m long section. approximately from the junction of Fotis Kontoglou Street with Themidos Street. During the works, part of Fotis Kontoglou Street will be closed to traffic and traffic will be diverted to side roads with the use of appropriate signage. In order to ensure smooth traffic flow, the one-way section of Electra Street will be removed from its junction with Fotis Kontoglou Street to the northern service road of Spyros Kyprianou, where it will become a dead end.
Within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 18/2/2026 – 31/3/2026, sidewalk reconstruction works will be carried out on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 70 meters in length, on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, from the height of Kozanis Street to the height of Petrou Mavromichali Street. The left lane of traffic on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue will remain closed and traffic will be directed to the right lane using appropriate road markings. Also, part of Petrou Mavromichalis Street will be closed to traffic and traffic will be diverted to side streets with the use of appropriate signage.
As part of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 26/02/2026-24/04/2026, construction works will be carried out on a light-controlled pedestrian crossing on Makariou Avenue, in Larnaca. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 40 meters in length, on Makariou Avenue, from the Larnaca Port Roundabout to Theodorou Kolokotroni Street. The left lane of traffic on Makariou Avenue, towards Larnaca, will remain closed and traffic will be diverted to the right lane using appropriate road markings. In order to ensure smooth traffic flow, the one-way section of Th. Kolokotroni Street from Makariou Avenue 3 to its junction with G. Drosini Street will be removed and converted into a dead end and Georgiou Drosini Street will be converted into a one-way street with a permitted route from Th. Kolokotroni Street to Meli Nikolaidi Street.
During the period between 5/3/2026 – 5/5/2026, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SVAK) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, works will be carried out to construct new light-controlled pedestrian crossings and reconstruct the pavement at the Larnaca industrial area roundabout in the direction from Nicosia to Aradippou. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 200 meters in length, near the Larnaca Industrial Area roundabout. The left lane on Acropolis Avenue as well as the exit to Aradippou will remain closed to traffic. Traffic to Aradippou will be diverted via Stadiou Avenue or Fotis Pitta Avenue to Andrea Panayides and Dimitraki Koumantari Streets respectively with the use of appropriate road markings.
During the period between 5/3/2026 – 20/4/2026, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, construction works of ZEBRA-type pedestrian crossings will be carried out on Archbishop Makarios III Avenue and Kyriakou Matsi and Omirou Streets in Aradippou. The works will be carried out in sections, in a section of approximately 20 meters in length and during the execution of the works, one traffic lane will be used and traffic will be channeled using the STOP & GO method and the use of appropriate road markings at the affected points.
At the Larnaca industrial area roundabout, in the direction from Larnaca to Nicosia, during the period 12/03/2026-02/04/2026, construction works of new photo-controlled crossings will be carried out pedestrians and sidewalk reconstruction, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Lanes”. During the works in the above section, approximately 130 meters long, the left lane of Eleftherias Avenue, Acropolis Avenue and the left lane of the exit from the Larnaca Industrial Area will be closed to traffic. Traffic from Larnaca to Nicosia will be conducted through the right lane, while traffic from the Larnaca Industrial Area to Nicosia will be directed through Pentadaktylou Street to Acropolis Avenue, with the use of appropriate road markings.
Within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Lanes”. Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 17/03/2026 – 28/03/2026, construction works of ramps and green spaces will be carried out at the intersection of Omirou Street and Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue in Aradippou. During the execution of the works at the above intersection, the left lane of Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, as well as the left lane of Omirou Street for a length of approximately 150 meters, will remain closed to traffic. Traffic will be directed to the right lane, with the use of appropriate temporary road markings.
Within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 20/03/2026-30/03/2026, construction works will be carried out on new photo-controlled pedestrian crossings at the Larnaca Industrial Area roundabout in the direction from Larnaca to Nicosia. During the works in the above section, approximately 70 meters long, the left lane of Eleftherias Avenue and the entrance to the Larnaca Industrial Area will be closed to traffic. Traffic from Larnaca to Nicosia will be conducted through the right lane, while traffic to the Larnaca Industrial Area will be directed through Yiannis Ritsou or Andreas Zakou Street, using appropriate road markings.
Paphos District
In the Municipality of Paphos, within the framework of the Archbishop Makarios III Avenue Improvement Project, in the areas of the Municipalities of Paphos and Hierokipia (Konia), a section of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue will be closed in the area of the Municipalities of Paphos and Hierokipia, as well as in Konia, from Thursday, January 29, 2026 and for a period of approximately three months. A part of the uphill lane of the Avenue (along its northern side) will remain closed, from its junction with Achepans Street to the junction of the avenue with Thasos Street (Konia). The two above-mentioned lanes will operate, Thasos Street normally, while Achepans Street partially, since traffic will be carried out unhindered in the uphill lane, while in the downhill lane, from the height of the junction of the street with Vasilikon Street and up to the junction with the avenue under improvement, ONLY ambulances will be allowed to use it. The Access to Konya and the wider area will be ONLY from the Konya motorway exit. The works will begin at 06.00 am on Thursday 29/01/2026 and will be completed in approximately three months from the start date.
