The Limassol Police Department is proceeding with strict measures to combat the phenomenon of "lampratzia", which has caused serious problems in the city and the province in recent years. With enhanced controls and the cooperation of all local authorities, the Police aims to limit delinquency, while as it states, cases will be opened against parents who do not exercise sufficient control over their children where they are found to be violating the law.
A special suppression team has already been set up, headed by an officer, which will carry out daily checks in various problematic areas of Limassol and the surrounding areas. Team checks will be intensified in the coming weeks and will continue throughout the Easter holidays. At the same time, all local authorities, municipalities and communities will work closely with the Police, while a person has been appointed in each area who will be in constant communication with the Authorities.
In addition to the Mayors of Limassol and the community leaders of the province, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Fire Service, the District Administration, the Federation of Parents' Associations, as well as officers of the British Bases. The participants agreed that immediate and close cooperation is needed to limit the phenomenon, while the Police assured that all available means will be used.
As we were told, the information programs in schools have started, as well as the lectures for parents and children, with the aim of prevention, information and the consequences. In addition, the Police proceeds with strict checks for compliance with the law, not only for minors, but also for their parents, especially those who are under 16 years old. In cases where it is found that parents do not exercise sufficient control over their children, cases will be opened against them. According to information from "F", two cases have already been filed against parents, as their minor children were found to be violating the law.
