ISRAEL - HIGH DEMAND FOR FLIGHTS TO CYPRUS - THEY WANT TO CELEBRATE JEWISH PASSOVER HERE.  TICKETS REACH €450 - Filenews 27/3

High demand for flights to Cyprus is recorded in Israel ahead of Pesach, the Jewish Passover, which begins next Wednesday, April 1 and will last until April 8.

Foreign flights to and from Tel Aviv Airport have all been cancelled until further notice, and only Israeli companies are flying, but with a limited number of routes and passengers per flight for safety reasons.

Cyprus was consistently in the top ten destinations for Pesach before the start of the war. In fact, the newspaper "Yediot Achronot" in a relevant report in January had written that there had been a large increase since the beginning of the year in pre-bookings especially for Larnaca and Paphos, something of course that was reversed later.

Nevertheless, demand for Cyprus remains high for the days of Pesach and, as a result of this demand combined with the limited availability of seats, ticket prices reach unprecedented heights for these short flights. According to the portal Ynet (of "Yediot Achronot"), with seats disappearing rapidly, tickets to Larnaca and Paphos have reached €450 round trip.

The Bulgarian company Electra operates flights from Aqaba, Jordan to Paphos without having a limit on the number of seats, as does the Israeli Arkia, which has transferred almost all of its flights there, except for long-distance ones, however it uses Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport for flights to Cyprus.
