This year's March was the most beneficial in terms of water inflow to the dams since 2019, according to updated data from the Department of Water Development. The total water inflow to our 18 main dams today amounted to 68,880 million cubic meters of water, compared to 18,664 in the same period last year. The best performances in the last decade appeared in the years 2022 (153.75 m²), 2020 (135.95 m³) and 2019 (265.04 m³).

The amount stored in the dams has reached 29.9% of the total capacity, marking an increase of 5.4% compared to the previous period.

According to the data, despite the general increase and the improved picture, the Southern Pipeline system, which supplies large urban centers, shows a marginal improvement compared to last year, which reminds the need for careful observance of water saving measures.

In addition, it is observed that the province of Nicosia, despite the high occupancy of its small dams, has a small volume of reserves, while the South Pipeline system concentrates the majority of reserves, with an occupancy of only 24.9%. The data for the rest of the systems show a positive course, with Paphos and Polis Chrysochous showing the largest increase compared to last year.

It is recalled that a third dam in the province of Paphos is expected to overflow within the day. The third small dam in the province, that of Agia Marina Chrysochous, is now marginally full, with the current occupancy of the Water Department's bulletin showing a rate of 98.7% and as a result it is considered a given overflow in the coming hours.

According to WDD data, although dams such as Xyliatos, Argaka and Pomos are almost full, the Achna dam is only at 2.1%, with zero inflows as of October 1, 2025, which reveals the uneven distribution of inputs.

Although the last months of the hydrological season showed a positive change with the rainfall of February and March, the authorities emphasize that the completion of the inflow season will be decisive for the final picture.
