DEPUTY MINISTER MIGRATION - EMERGENCY MEASURES DUE TO MIDDLE EAST AND IMPLACT ON AIRPORTS

DEPUTY MINISTER MIGRATION - EMERGENCY MEASURES DUE TO MIDDLE EAST AND IMPLACT ON AIRPORTS - Filenews 11/3

The Deputy Ministry of Migration decided to implement temporary emergency measures in light of the unstable situation prevailing in the Middle East and its impact on the operation of airports and air connections to the Republic.

Specifically, according to an announcement, with the instructions of the Deputy Minister, the validity of the residence documents of third-country nationals who are outside the Republic and are unable to return is extended.

In detail, it is stated, bearing in mind that the unsettled situation in the Middle East began on March 1, 2026, a series of temporary measures have been taken.

First, with regard to holders of valid residence permits, it is stated that the holder will be allowed to enter the Republic with the valid permit, until 30.4.2026, provided that the period of three months outside the Republic has been completed after 28.2.2026.

Secondly, for the holders of a receipt of an application for the renewal of a residence permit, it is noted that by analogy with the above, the holder will be allowed to enter the Republic with the receipt, until 30.4.2026, provided that the application is still pending or has been approved and the period of three months outside the Republic has been completed after 28.2.2026.

Thirdly, for holders of entry permits with a maximum use date for entry from 1.3.2026 to 31.3.2026, it is stated that the holder will be allowed to enter the Republic with the entry permit until 30.4.2026, regardless of the end date of the period of use for entry. This period is considered reasonable, as it ensures a period of at least one additional month for entry purposes.

The above measures, it is emphasized, are extraordinary and temporary and are justified, taking into account the generalized situation of force majeure that has been created, and which is not due to the fault of the affected persons.

The Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection will re-evaluate the situation to extend the implementation of the above measures, if such a thing is deemed appropriate, depending on the conditions that will prevail, it concludes.
